But while ’s Oversteps and Move of Ten were both engaging, the two hours of Exai is something else. This is Autechre operating at their highest level since ’s LP5.

Album Reviews: Autechre - Exai. So far in excitement surrounding new album releases has centred mainly around those unexpected offerings from My Bloody Valentine and David Bowie (for very different reasons). In underground circles however news of the appearance of Exai, a new double album from venerated electronic duo Autechre, was greeted with similar levels of anticipation, if not quite.

Apr 05,  · There’s one other cloud hanging over Brown and Booth on this album. When Exai hits its highest peaks in the manageable clatter and chirp of “Runrepik” and “Jatevee C,” it merely suggests Autechre have looped around to face today’s posse of DIY producers. Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Mux Mool — they can sound like this too, y’know.

Veteran Warp-signed duo Autechre have announced that they are to release a new full-length album, their 11th, next year. Entitled Exai, it's a suitably large scale follow-up to 's Oversteps and Move of Ten, clocking in at over two hours (split across two CDs, or four sides of vinyl, depending on your inclination). It will be released on 4th March
  9. Feshicage says:
In Exai i think Autechre found a balance between what i call their 1st phase (first 4 albums: more melodic, more structure) and their 2nd phase (next 6 albums: more abstract, less structure). With both EPs - released 2 years ago and this new lp being close to a summary of their career, i think Autechre have reached a new peak.
